Doctor Cherian, who performed India's first heart transplant, passes away at the age of 82

Padma Shri KM Cherian, the world-renowned doctor who performed India's first heart transplant, passed away at the age of 82 in Bengaluru on Saturday. Due to his old age, he fell unconscious and was admitted to the hospital. He took a heart from a brain-dead patient and successfully transplanted it into another person. He has also received the Padma Shri award.
